If you shop around, you can probably find an M4/3 format camera for about the same price as the G12. M4/3 is an interchangeable lens camera; it has a digital imaging sensor that is much larger than a compact camera, but smaller than a DSLR. The Panasoniche DMC-GF2, now discontinued, is about $400 online; I have seen it for as low as $330.
I want to upgrade from my Canon PowerShot SD 880IS. I've heard the Canon PowerShot G12 would be a great next step for learning more about photography and taking better outdoor shots. Can anyone offer feedback on the G12? Suggest something else in the same price range?
