If you have apps that you need later, collect them on CD, DVD, memory sticks so you are ready if they don't make it over during the upgrade.
There is also a concern about YOUR FILES. If you watched the forums you read pleas for help by folk that upgraded to Windows 7 and forgot to backup THEIR FILES prior to the upgrade. So much loss and I doubt that history will not be repeated.

I have a computer with windows vista SP2 on it. Since windows 8 is coming out soon, I wanted to upgrade to it in October. Then I saw online that people with windows vista can only keep personal settings and files when upgrading to windows 8 and not apps. Does that mean premium software like Microsoft office will not be there when I am done updating?
