First get the exact mfg (SONY), series (VAIO) and model # (??????).
Second check the system manual for info on RAM and CPU upgrades.
Third....you need to check on the installed RAM....the system shows ???MBs of RAM using 1 DIMM or 2 DIMMs ???
Then go to Crucial.com and select mfg, series and model number ....it's usually very good about telling you how many RAM slots there are, the max RAM and what type of RAM it takes...DDR, DDR2, etc. and offers you some RAM options...guaranteed to work with your system.
Just bought a used Sony Viao (cheap)
The CPU is a Pentium 4 - 2.8 Northwood
Bus Speed 800 Mhz level 2 Cache = 512 Bytes
Core speed 2793 mhz multi 14x with 512 of ram duel channel think
Was thinking about trying to upgrade the CPU & RAM but don't have a clue on the socket type and ram type type . Its a Asus Mboard. Its a beautiful unit with every feature you can think of.
Was wondering if you all may have some pointers on what basic CPU and Memory upgrades might be possible. thanks much for any tips.
