upgrade problems

I installed a new mobo. Asus k8v se deluxe. AMD64 2800. POST is fine & says computer now booting from operating system. WindowsXP SP2 mode selection comes up (safe, normal, last good etc) then just keeps trying to reboot over and over. Tried to use windows xp oem cd to reload windows but nothing new happens. Please help.

It's new. Use your warranty.

Call the supplier and make it their problem.

Bob

PS. If you built it yourself, then where is the parts list? Is the BIOS the latest and more.

how can I know if the problem is the motherboard. My old mobo worked fine but maybe something isn't set right. The bios is up to date but this is my first amd64 bit processor

I asked for more details and I read your reply. If you can't supply such information then what can I offer?

Again... A parts list of what the machine is made of would be a start. Too often people recycle an old power supply or RAM or even a heatsink and get into trouble.

Why not tell all?

As to the motherboard. There are no tests available to tell if its good or bad other than to try another.
