Upgrade network Using Segmentation

i there

need help here...its about network segmentation.

Right now there is only 1 sub network ( 192.168.0.0 ) at my office
For the future purpose we want to upgrade our network from 1 subnetwork to 2 subnetwork

exp :
Network 1 = 192.168.0.0
Network 2 = 192.168.1.0

We try to minimize our budget,so we will use current equipment rite now

Here is our eqp:

Main Switch = SMC Tiger Switch 1000 8606T
Switch 1 = SMC Tiger Stack II 10/100 6624M
Switch 2 = SMC Tiger Stack II 10/100 6624M
Switch 3 = SMC EZ1024DT
Switch 4 = SMC EZ1024DT

Any Suggestion? like software etc
i Heard we can use 2 nic to do that
if yes,can u all provide me the documentation

Subnetting

Subnetting is simply dividing a single IP network into multiple IP networks by modifying the subnet mask. To communicate between several IP networks, you need a default gateway/Router.

Not done as often anymore. Why?

The reason I subnetted years ago was that we didn't have SWITCHED HUBS. Without a switched hub all traffic was seen by all plus overall network speed was limited to 10/100 megabits.

Fast forward to today and with switched hubs the reason to subnet fades.

If you are doing this for speed and have all switched hubs then you'll find no gain.

I would tend to agree with Bob in his post. Subnets are not used very often now with "smarter" switches and private address space.

I am curious why your company is looking into subnetting (segmentation)? What are you hoping to accomplish? And without getting too technical, using a 192.168.0.0 vs. 192.168.1.0 is not actually subnetting, as 192 is a class C address so you are actually creating a new network with the 192.168.1.0. Subnetting is the process of dividing up one network with the use of a mask, and that can get complicated, when you start to figure out number of networks vs. number of hosts, and etc. You have to understand the binary code underneath to really understand what is going on.

I guess from my perspective I would want to know what you are hoping to accomplish before you start getting into complicated changes.
