upgrade motherboard dell dimension 4500

can anyone tell me, can i upgrade the cpu without having to change the motherboard, and if i cant what motherboard can put in. i am not a gamer so i dont need fancy video cards, sound cards etc.

Your Dimension 4500 is about 8 years old. Even a CPU upgrade is going to leave you with an 8-year old computer with maybe a slightly faster CPU. So your pennies would be better saved toward replacing that system.
