Upgrade Mac X 10.4.11 to new version

Oct 23, 2012 4:21AM PDT

Hi I have a iMac 27 running with Mac OS X 10.4.11, and I want to upgrade to a newer system (Snow leopard or something like it), how do I do this ? which is the next available upgrade I should look for ? Where I get it ?

I have a Snow Leopard CD, but when I try it says that I should have at least Mac OS X 10.5 or later !

iMac 24-inch, Mid 2008
Processor Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16GHz
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.4.11
Ram 4GB

When I put the CD, started to install and few seconds later says: I should have at least Mac OS X 10.5 or later to continue.

Thanks

That needed to go to Leopard first before going to Snow Leopard.

FYI, 10.4.11 is not Lion
