UPGRADE FROM VISTA BASIC TO PREMIUM - msi files

Nov 6, 2007 7:21PM PST

I get the following messages when I switch on:
"Can't find TrayApp.msi, MarketResearch.msi and AIO_CDB_Software.msi files".
After closing the messages several times they go away and everything works fine.
Where can I find these files? Are they important?

When I turn on my computer I recieve a message that it is trying to download the AIO_CDB software program and needs a disk to proceed. What do I do. I have an HP printer that every time I go to use needs to be unistalled and reinstalled, I also have Nortons. Can someone please help me?

Is this a program or a virus?

Thanks,
Kelly

This is not a known message when one upgrades. I'd ask for your tech support to look into this a bit deeper.

Who do I ask? HP? Microsoft? or Norton? I have no idea where to even ask for help.

Ask here, but is your discussion about this?
Dec 2, 2007 7:59AM PST

See the topic at the top?

It's "UPGRADE FROM VISTA BASIC TO PREMIUM - msi files"

If that's not your issue you need to use the forums to their best advantage and make your own discussion. This way you own it and no one will think you have the same issue.

I don't think ...
Dec 2, 2007 4:17AM PST

your post has anything to do with trouble upgrading from Vista Home Basic to Premium, the original subject of this thread. Then Bob's answer above isn't relevant.

Please start a new thread. And can you please post the full and exact litteral error message. Somehow I don't think it doesn't go like "trying to download the AIO_CDB software and need a disk to proceed", but something else.

What kind of disk, and why don't you just put it in?

If I read through http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=708162 I find a relation with HP All-in-ones indeed. It's quite understandable that after the first phase of installing it needs to do something at boot time. If it can't do it, because you don't provide the disk, it's quite possible it doesn't work. So I think this revolves about what disk?

Maybe, if you tell more, we can tell you what disk. Otherwise I would advice you contact HP tech support telling them you have some trouble installing their driver under Vista. Where did you get the driver from?

Hope this helps.

UNINSTALL HP SOFTEWARE AND START AGAIN
Dec 3, 2007 5:23AM PST

I solved the problem about the missing *.msi files thanks to Bob's help.
I uninstalled the HP software, switched off and just started again with a new installation. Everything loaded nicely and I didn't get any missing file messages.
Thanks again Bob.

Installation message for the Product Status
May 13, 2009 9:58PM PDT

when I log on I get a message "the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. For "Status"; it tells me to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package "status.msi" in the box below. After cancelling three or more times it goes away but comes back the next time I log on.

I never "find" those files. I remove the need for them.

I've used many tools over the years such as REVO and HIJACKTHIS to remove software that has failed.
