Upgrade from digital compact . I need more zoom!

Apr 3, 2005 11:03AM PDT

I'm thinking of upgrading my Casio Exilim 3.2MP (3x optical) which has served me well for over two years. It still takes great pics but I want something with more zoom (at least 10x) for taking those wildlife shots etc. I've looked at the new Panasonic Lumix but I'm not sure if I should perhaps be looking at a full body SLR instead. Any suggestions or advice re. this or other models available? Budget flexible.

More Zoom

The Panasonic FZ-20 has a lot of loyal followers.

The DSLR cameras can offer even more zoom, but at a greater cost. The DSLR can perform better in low light situtations due to the higher ISO settings you can use.

Here is a link to a photographer in England that uses a Sigma 300-800mm lens:

She is a very talented photographer and mostly photographs birds with that Sigma lens.
Oh.....by the way....that lens costs $4,500.

If you don't want that much zoom, the lenses are a lot cheaper.
