Question

Upgrade from 4s to iphone 6

Jul 3, 2015 3:07PM PDT

I just upgraded to iPhone 6 and like it very much. AT&T transferred everything from my old phone to the new one from the Cloud. Only problem is, none of my music or movies transferred. My main computer is Win XP and it doesn't seem to be able accept the newest version of iTunes needed to use XP. I went to another computer we have that is Win 7, was able to get into itunes, but none of my music was there. It also stopped using my Ringtone which I had purchased. Is there any way to transfer the information directly from the old phone to new? I spoke to an Apple Tech and he seemed to think that the copyright laws are stronger now and that's why I couldn't get them. Seems kind of silly as most of what I have are very old opera recordings as well as some that I purchased. Is there anyway to drop them in the iClous on my old computer? Would love some advice.

Answer
I sometimes wonder where Apple gets its Techs from.

If you still have the old phone, you can get the music off it and back onto a computer using an app called iRip. There are Windows and Mac versions, it's not free.

To use the iPhone 6 you will need the latest version of iTunes, which, as you have already found out, does not run on XP.
Install the latest version of iTunes on your Windows 7 machine and then follow the instructions given for iRip.
That will move all the music off the old phone and back into iTunes.
From there you can sync the new iPhone and all will be well again

Answer
your music should be in your music folder

if your main computer is xp, and you used it for itunes in the past, your music should still be in the music folder. You should be able to copy that folder and then move it to the new computer. once on the new computer, you should be able to import it back into itunes. Not sure how to do it anymore since I have not used itunes in years. But that is how I always moved my music between computers. You will lose your play lists.

my suggestion maybe not useful, hope work

is it possible that you can back up your videos once again to iTunes or iCloud on Windows 7.Maybe there are something wrong when you did these with Windows XP. If it is because of the copyright policy of Apple, I think no ways out of this issues as you know, Apple company is a little too cautious.

It worked, finally!

I'm not sure how I did it, but I was finally able to get three of the movies and the music on my new iPhone. I spoke at great length to a couple better Apple tech people> We were able to put the music on a flash drive and then get it on the iPhone. The movies were more of a challenge and I kept getting an error message, but when I gave up and unplugged it the flash drive, amazing, the movies where there on my iphone. This all proves that the original idea about copyright from Apple was nonsense. These were all done years ago with Tivo. I'm going to try again and see if I can remember all the steps it took.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
