The IBM site does not have any information on the Aptiva 2161

Then they don't offer such.

Not all machines have an update.

Has an update

Other sites have links for VBIOS.exe for Aptiva 2161,2162 Bios but it links to IBM which doesn't have a real lot about the Aptiva on it, even stats aren't on the site anymore. So the update does exist somewhere.

Let's try another tactic.

Tell what you need the update for.

For some, it's a hard disk size issue. For that, given the age of the machine you stick with sizes that work or add a PCI IDE card.

their site is terrible. No wonder they sold their computers to a Chinese company. maybe things will get better then,

I was trying to use their site to help another forum member. Worst support site that I have seen.

I agree, IBM is pretty bad, it didn't help me at all.

IBM does show some info and items for the 2161-e64, but being an old system, it hardly has any.

There really anything of a bios nature, thus you're stuck with what is a "dead-end" system. Considering the best cpu is either a 150mhz or 166mhz based, its not going too far as a speed demon. Since, you bios update, only a bios replacement provided you want to spend that much from some 3rd party vendor, like Mr.Bios or Biosman or similar is about the way to go *if* they have something to upgrade. Geezzzz, the 2161-e64 was only supporting DOS and probably only win3.x at the time from MS.
