upgrade ati mobility radeon x1600

would like to upgrade HP 8430 from w7 to w10. stopper is the ati mobility radeon x1600 driver. Is there an upgrade to that driver hat wirks? hesitant to attempt any rebuild.

Would be to clone the HDD, boot on the new copy then uninstall the ATI driver and then try the W10 upgrade. See where it all falls out.

Remember I did not try what others have written up as I tend to try it my way.

The question is about Windows 8, but the person providing the answer says the solution worked for his Windows 10 installation too.
I downloaded the Windows 10 Upgrade ISO and followed the instructions given in that TechNet forum post. The laptop is now running Windows 10 successfully at the full resolution supported by the graphics adapter.
