Upgradation of processor

Jan 10, 2014 1:19PM PST

My desktop is consists of ASUS P4V533-MX motherboard of 2003, Intel Celeron 1.7 GHz, 400FSB Processor, 1GB DDR RAM, 40GB hard disk, OS: Windows XP SP2. Monitor is Samsung, Model: S22C330H, Resolution: 1920 x 1080 pixels.

My problem is - video file with extension mkv is not running in my PC by any media player and I am not getting display resolution not more than 1280 x 768 pixels. Please help me how I will solve my problem by upgrading any hardware or software or is it possible or not?

I remember we started to be able to play SD video at about the Celeron 400MHz so this is roughly 4 times the clock rate so my bet is along the lines of others that it's something else like the VIDEO CARD or you need to try VLC PLAYER.

The fact it's on XP SP2 with 1GB RAM and you know what's happening in a few months sheds some doubt if you should do anything on this computer but nothing.

Re: resolution

If your video (embedded on the motherboard or as a separate card, you didn't tell) doesn't support a higher resolution than 1280x768, you need another videocard, not another processor.

And not playing some video format most likely means you need other player software or another codec linked to your current player software. Any program that shows it on another PC should do it on your PC also if you load the right codecs.

- Tried VLC Player?

That CPU

That CPU should be capable of decoding 1080p content as long as you're not doing too much else with it. Are you absolutely certain that the encoded file is actually 1080p and not scaled down?
