Updating to Itunes 9.2 problem

Jul 7, 2010 10:34AM PDT

I updated to Itunes 9.2 a while ago. I plugged in the ipod touch to charge the battery, but then a balloon on the bottom right of the screen said it found new hardware. After that came up, another message appeared on my screen with:

"apple mobile device usb drive has not passed windows logo testing to verify it compatibility with windows xp"

I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes but it's still not working.
I have tried solutions that were made here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538
but i still get the same message. I have not tried to connect it to Itunes because I'm afraid i will lose all of my music.

Can anyone solve this problem without

*Updating Windows XP. I can't not do that at this time because of finances.

*Updating the ipod touch. That also costs money to do so, which I don't have.
