Updating serice pack 1 to 2?

by audreycharlize / May 17, 2009 10:45 AM PDT

Hi,

I currently have Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1. I have not had any problems with Vista and don't understand the hate. But my question is do I need to update to Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2? Will it wipe out all my files and/or programs that I currently have on Service pack 1 if I update? Thanks in advanced. Happy

Audrey

SP2 for Windows Vista has not yet been released; the beta is currently available, but it is not recommended for installation on your primary computer. When it is released you are advised to upgrade, and it will most likely become mandatory for some future updates, but there is no immediate requirement. Regardless, SP2 does not require you to uninstall SP1, nor will it delete your personal files or installed apps. In that respect, it is just like any other update.

Hope this helps,
John
