Updating IBM Thinkpad from 2000 to XP

I am considering upgrading my IBM Thinkpad T21 from Windows 2000 to Windows XP. It says the system is compatible, but I'm wondering if anyone else has tried this (and suceeded). Is there anything I should be worried about when making this change? My laptop is recently out of warranty.

Even moving from 2000 Pro to XP Pro which I have done doesn't have any benefit that I can share.

I did this with an T21 when windows XP first came out. I had no problems and the machine is still running with XP pro.
