Updating a vintage radio

I am thinking about gutting an old floor standing radio from the 20's or 30's. The plan is to add a car stereo digital media recever, a pair of 6x9 speakers, maybe an amp and 10"sub. Other than the AC/DC power converter are there any hang ups I might be missing? My goal is to play music off an Ipod and external hard drive. Thanks
