"Windows Update" does not show this as a critical update for my XP Pro system.

Is this normal or am I missing something? Confused

Glenn, In Addition...It Will Only Show in Windows Updates...
by Grif Thomas Forum moderator / October 6, 2004 8:50 AM PDT

...IF you have "T.V. Media" installed on the computer. The KB 885523 Update is for those computers which use "T.V. Media" ONLY. It is not required to be installed on other Windows XP machines. The "adware" program TVMedia stops the service pack from being installed correctly, therefore there's a need to patch Windows and remove TVMedia.Read the full KnowledgeBase article below:

Hope this helps.

Thanks Grif! As you describe I have no need for the update. I am usually careful to download only those updates that Windows Updates finds are needed for my system.

Thank you for the clarification.

Have a nice day,

Glenn

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
