That is probably just the time

In reply to: installed the three files OK Note date is 6-30 not 7-1?

they were released Auggie. As long as the version number is correct for the defs, which it is, you should be fine. Mine shows today's date BUT I just downloaded them the normal way via the updater on the program instead of doing them manually and the date and time is showing the exact time that I did the download. I do NOT think you have a problem. Grin

Collapse -
If I'm not mistaken.

The date beside the definition number is not the date when the "manual" defs was installed. It is the date when the "updater" installs the defs.

That is true if you managed to get the old defs on
6/30/2005 6:16:52 PM?

Anyone Know Why This keeps happening...??.....

In reply to: Spybot S&D ...

...When I click on the link, the received page at Spybot Info lists the latest update as :2005-06-30 but when I click "Downloads" the current shows only :2005-06-24!!!
This keeps happening (last try also). I know they recom. use updater not manual download (I need to put on 1 offline machine). Are they purposely keeping manual download 1 issue of defs behind? I looked under news, support, history (all list 06-30) but download link in blue (1 below main install of 1.4 link) is 06-24. What am I doing wrong?? Confused

In reply to: Anyone Know Why This keeps happening...??.....

I have no idea why they do that but this may be a work around. You already know how to install them manually so you could go into the updates folder in the computer that you updated via the updater and send a copy of the current defs to a floppy and install them into the other computer. Just a suggestion.

Thankyou, Roddy ! Reversing my usual course of install....

In reply to: Tobeach

should work like a charm (too bad my brain doesn't seem to be)! This may soon end as I've just been presented with a D-Link 4 port hardwire router. Once I figure out how not to mess up the install of Desktop(netted) and then do same for Laptop, I'll be able to use built in updaters on it for all ( or NOT).If you don't hear from me you'll know I messed up again and can't get on the net with either (LOL)! Some may think this is a GOOD thing! Happy

In reply to: Reboot and see what happens ...

I used the links provided by Donna to update to 5729 since I was having it repeat the update from 5725 to 5729. Today I used the program updater and it showed updating 5729 to 5731 and showed confirmed when you went to help and then about. But when going back to update would repeat. Same problem so used link from Donna and manually downloaded and replaced files to truly have 5731. Guess MS taking their time to fix this problem.

we know definitions are good to 5725

In reply to: repeating

so guess i will wait till server fixed.

afterall is still Beta.

MY experience and others from

In reply to: repeating

other forums that I frequent is that if you hit the updater button again after downloading new defs, it will download them again. That behavior, at least in MY experience lasts about a day and a half. This has happened to me since I first started using the program so all I do now is close the program after I download news defs, then open it again and check to see if the new ones are stil there BUT I do NOT hit the update button again. 2 or 3 days later, I just checking for updates again and it is working normally by then. I have never seen them release new ones again that fast anyway. I scan with MSAS usually once a night and even though I don't check for updates every time, I DO check to see which ones are loaded and it has always been the current ones. Hopefully Microsoft will fix this updating problem one of these years but I wouldn't hold your breath on it.
