The 4664 dat files have been released early due to publicly-released new variants of Exploit-WMF code. DAT files will also include detection for a new variant of Backdoor-CEP known to have been downloaded by Exploit-WMF spam.

At the time of this posting the date was posted as 12/31/05 but the date on the readme file and the e-mail are 01/01/2006 which I believe is the correct date.

SpywareBlaster 3.5 released 01/01/2006
Jan 1, 2006 1:48AM PST

[QUOTE]
SpywareBlaster 3.5 has been released!

Prevent the installation of spyware and other potentially unwanted software!

New in this version:
-SpywareBlaster Turbo-Update Technology: Faster and more frequent updates
-Various feature and protection enhancements
-Further optimizations to certain parts of the program
-And lots of other bug fixes and requested tweaks

This 3.5 release provides enhanced updating, performance, and bug fixes.

NEW UPDATING OPTIONS IN SPYWAREBLASTER 3.x
SpywareBlaster still offers the built-in Check for Updates feature. This feature is completely free and allows you to keep up-to-date by clicking on a button in the SpywareBlaster interface.

SpywareBlaster 3.5 now offers SpywareBlaster AutoUpdate - a brand-new updating solution. Just set it up, and AutoUpdate will check at every system boot for the latest updates and enable the newest protection (other options are available).

As much as we would like to provide auto-updating functionality for free, costs are simply too great to make it feasible. AutoUpdate functionality is $9.95 (US) per year, which helps to cover the bandwidth costs. The Check for Updates function remains completely free, as does SpywareBlaster. You only need to pay if you wish to have the extra convenience of AutoUpdate.

SpywareBlaster is freeware.
Download the latest version here:

Enjoy!

Best regards,

-Javacool

IE-SPYAD & AGNIS Lists Updated (Jan. 1 2006)
Jan 1, 2006 7:06AM PST

[QUOTE]
Hi All:

IE-SPYAD (the IE Restricted zone list) and AGNIS (the AtGuard/NIS/NPF/Outpost/AdShield ad block list) have been updated again. They can be downloaded from:

https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/resource.htm

The "original" IE-SPYAD includes an install/uninstall utility. IE-SPYAD for ZonedOut requires the ZonedOut utility from FunkyToad:

http://www.funkytoad.com/zonedout.htm

The AGNIS block lists are compatible with AtGuard 3.x and ALL versions of NIS as well as NPF 2003 and 2004. There are separate versions AGNIS for users of Agnitum Outpost and AdShield.

If you're running any of the most recent versions of NIS or NPF, you must use the ProWAGoN utility written by Christian Haagensen to load, remove, and backup block lists:

https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/resource.htm#prowagon

If you have questions or comments about IE-SPYAD or any of the AGNIS lists, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Best,

Eric L. Howes

Please remember to re-immunize with SpywareBlaster & Spybot S&D.
Some items considered non-threats or defunct are disabled by IE-Spyad.
