Hi Larry

In reply to: Hi Roddy...

I just rechecked the AVG website and the last update was on the 1st and it was 266.9.1 so this one SHOULD be 266.9.2 unless they snuck one in on us. The main page has it listed as 266.9.2, which is where I got the original update from. That is on this link.
http://www.grisoft.com/doc/News/lng/us/tpl/tpl01

BUT on the update page they have it listed at 266.9.3 which is what YOU actually received but the virus that was added is exactly the same so I do not know which one is actually correct. AVG's pages SHOULD read the same but they don't. This is the link for the page that lists it as 266.9.3.

Your guess is as good as mine LOL. I would think that YOU have the latest.

In reply to: Update on this

There have been two updates this morning 266.9.2 and 266.9.3. I received both using the AVG Updater today.

Website may not be up-to-date but at least they are shooting out the updates. Grin

266.9.2 went LOL. I got up at 5:00AM CDT and the 266.9.2 was already posted on the website which is about 4 hours ahead of time. The second one must have come out at the normal time. Thanks for clearing that up Glenn. Happy

NOT Live Update Mark. You didn't need it. You use Live Update. It won't hurt anything though. Intelligent Updater downloads the entire database everytime and is what most businesses use. When you see the updates for NAV posted, only do the ones that are labeled Live Update and don't use the download link, use the Live Update function in the interface. I thought we went through all this when you first started using NAV. LOL Intelligent Updater updates every day, normally, Live Updates, updates on Wednesday afternoon except for exceptions such as this morning's was. BUT, IF what you got this afternoon was via the Live Update function, then it might have been the security update that was released last week. They are releasing it gradually from what I have been told, I got mine yesterday or the day before. Whatever the case, you should be OK now Mark.

OK, That must have been the security update.

In reply to: i used the interface from my nortons

I never posted that because it was only for certain versions and they were spreading it out over time and I didn't want to cause confusion. You should be all set now. I would imagine they will still have the normal weekly update tomorrow but I guess time will tell.

Enable question ------

In reply to: SpywareBlaster definitions update

Roddy, I guess I have not physically been enabling this each time because the words, IE Protection... and Restricted Sites is enabled are always already highlighted in blue. Must I enable each time? Hum, and I just thought I was protected (LOL)! I do know with Spybot S&D I have to immunize 2 times after each update, but didn't know about Spyware Blaster requiring that.

Thanks - Julea

Enabling protection

In reply to: Enable question ------

When you update SpywareBlaster, there is a link just below the line that tells you how many new items protection is added for. By clicking on this each time you update, you will enable protection for the updates.

Just a thought

In reply to: Enable question ------

Since the common good practice, is you should have an administrator, a user with admin level and a limited user account, that you use everyday)

You might have to enable it on each user account, especially if there are a restricted sites protection...

This is applied to spybot SD too... you have to make the user account as administrator, immunize.. then change back to limited account..

and you have to 'scan' on every user account too.

I know it because I done that before, to remove a pest, that can not be remove. it happened to be that the pest also infected the other account... and they are gone after I clean/scan all my user account... (sometimes I need to turn off system restore too)
