Update CCleaner

I see that there is a new version for CCleaner,1.27.242,that is beta. I am going to wait till it is out of beta but have a question. When I go to update do I need to uninstall the old version or install on top of old version? I am new to CCleaner and have had only the 1.26.218 version. Thanks Sly

Hi Sly

In reply to: Update CCleaner

I have always installed it right over the old one so it saves my settings and the cookies I have saved. That has ALWAYS worked for me with no problems at all.Others may disagree but I do what works for ME. BTW, I am also waiting until the new version comes out of beta which usually isn't very long.

upgrading to new version of CCleaner, do I need to...

In reply to: Update CCleaner

What operating systems does CCleaner work with?
Fully tried and tested with Windows 95/98/NT4/ME/2000/XP/2003.
It's also fully compatible with XP Service Pack 2.

When upgrading to a new version of CCleaner, do I need to uninstall the old version?

No, you can install newer versions over the top of older versions, without having to uninstall.
Can the program be installed silently?

Use a /S (uppercase) parameter when you run the installer. This will use all the default options and not bring up any option windows.

To run the cleaner silently, use the /AUTO parameter on ccleaner.exe.

Do I need to be an administrator to install this?

Yes. Normally it is not possible to install new applications unless you are an administrator.
