found this info on a different forum:
Thanks to someone else on this forum I replaced the text in my url.ini file ( In your grisoft folder or wherever you have AVG installed.)
Save your old file as url.old and create a new file in notepad with this:
[SERVER_NAME]
1=free.grisoft.cz
2=ftp.grisoft.com
3=www.grisoft.com
[SERVER_URL]
1=http://free.grisoft.cz/softw/60/fe
2=ftp.grisoft.com/pub/softw/60/fe/
3=http://www.grisoft.com/softw/60/fe/
Actual URL=3
When you restart AVG you'll have three choices to download from instead of the default one.
i opened up avg dont see any of that.
i finally got update at home took forever on cable
shop dsl slower
Mark,
you have to look for the url.ini file - then save this file to url.old and make a new one with the info in my last post.
Mark,
the "old" url.ini file save it as "url.old".
The new one you made save as "url.ini" - yeah - the same name as the old one you now saved as "url.old".
Of course without quotes !
dont ask me how but i did it![]()
now have 2 choices cz and .com to get updates![]()

Hi Marianna -- it's been several months since I last visited cnet, but I'm here now to thank you very much for your support info on this situation. I too was having the same problem and I followed your instructions re: renaming the url.ini file. My question now is ----- is it safe to delete the url.old file -- I would guess that it is, but wanted to double check. Things went like clockwork after following your instructions.
I had been trying to get this download for 2 days. I downloaded it manually; it downloaded fine and even told me I had #608, however, I kept getting a warning dialogue box stating my virus database was not up to date and I needed to get latest update. When trying to get it again, it kept telling me that I already had the latest and greatest. I'm going good now though, and it even shows my database is up to date. Thank you very much.
BTW, since last seeing you I've been busy assisting teaching computer classes for our local computer club (been doing that since September). I do basic computer for Windows 98 and also for XP; internet; and email -- I love it and have picked up some good tips.

Yes, either you leave the url.old or you delete it - seems everything is working fine for you. That is really GREAT news you are teaching computer classes ! Just yesterday I was thinking about you as I hadn't seen you in quite a while ! Now I know "why"
I can imagine you love it - SUPER ! You are on your way to become a "guru"
Keep up the good work! Hope you will find time to "jump in" if you have time ![]()
