Easy, to a point. . .

Win 2000 is more business/corporate LAN designed. Win XP Home is about the best MS has designed for the home user.

The easiest and best way is to do a full format and install of XP. Insert the XP CD and let it run. Choose full format and conversion to the NTFS file format. Follow the on screen prompts.

BUT!!! You must back up all data you can't afford to loose. The format will erase the HD. Back up or save all emails, email addresses, Favorites, pictures, documents, whatever. You'll need to download drivers for video, sound, modem, etc. as XP does not have them.

The best method to install any OS is from scratch or fresh w/o the old OS in the way. Even though you have winMe, installing an upgrade OS, you will be prompted to prove you had the old OS before it starts to install the new OS. Basically, save any data you want from old OS, reformat and make it bootable, then set your system to boot from CD and follow prompts. W2K or XP will reformat should you decide to do it that way from the install CD, I just like some thinngs the old way. Here's a good website for some help or google for others:
