Since moving I've been experimenting with various routes to work and have finally found a 'back roads' one that, impressively I think, reduces the journey from 17 to 12 miles, and avoids most of the bottlenecks.

About halfway along, on top of a hill is a large and impressive pub / restaraunt called The Phoenix. Below the main name board ( which is complete with an equally impressively gilded bird ) it is proudly proclaimed to be ........................

One assumes the landlord does not, perhaps, have the benefit of a classical education.......................
