Unwelcom Standard Dual PCI-IDE controller driver.

Feb 9, 2004 4:06AM PST

Good afternoon all:
I am working on a socket 7 board with an ALI 1541/1543 chipset. It's running Win 98SE. When I got it it was in DOS Compatibility Mode. I downloaded and installed the ALI driver and it's now running in 32 bit mode. It still try's to load the Standard Dual PCI-IDE controller driver when it starts up. I can prevent it from installing by pressing cancel. Does anyone know where this driver is coming from?
Thank's
B.K.

This can be a side effect of some old OS that has been on some hard disk across many machines.

I let it install and if the drives are not in ms-dos compatibility, move on.

After it completes the installation, ALI also has it's own hard disk controllers (busmaster controllers) for this device. You can obtain them from ALI, which also includes the AGP controller in the system devices. YOu can store hthese drives to a floppy disk, and load them from the run box.

Thanks to both of you. The version of M5229 that will work with the standard controller is 3.56. I found it on the Ali Tiawan Site.
