Resolved Question

unwanted video shakes using handy-cam

Mar 7, 2015 10:37PM PST

I meant to film the cars passing the roads using a Sony Handy-cam (DCR SR46) and it would visually shake when cars got closer to the camera than a certain distance, is that due to "steadyshot" mode being enabled???or what???
thanks?

Handycam Handbook

Probably something to do with Focus or Zoom.
There are many hints in the Handbook.
Make sure that Digital zoom is turned off
If you are using a tripod, turn off Steadyshot.
Turn off autofocus and see what happens
Read page 27 Notes
Read page 58 Steadyshot
Read about Focus on page 71

Other options?

Thank you snapshot2 and R. Proffitt.
I'd recently found out about steadyshot, and the digital zoom was off already, but not the autofocus. and I've used tripod too, I think that's all about steadyshot and autofocus and I'll check them. are there any options other than these two to cause trouble?
thanks.

Answer
You could test that in one shoot.

There's also some post production video editors that have shake reduction so here's the deal. There is no hard and fast truth here. No one cause or cure. Go with your best solution. Experiment and find out.
