General discussion

unwanted part of selections (Paint Shop Pro 7)

Jun 17, 2010 6:32AM PDT

MS Word 2003
Paint Shop Pro 7

I'm trying to design an advertising flyer in word. I've set a background image for the whole page & now want to have other images over parts of it & then there'll be text on top.

I've been trying to select & copy using the freehand tool in PSP7, but when I paste the copied selection into the word document I get a white rectangle with the freehand selection in it - as if I'm pasting the space where the rest of the image was (before making my selecion) as well - so parts of the background are covered by blank white.

I've also tried using the eraser tool to erase the parts of the image I don't want & copying what's left, but when I paste it into word I get the same as I described above.

Can anyone explain what I can do about this, please?

TIA,
Jeff

... I didn't know I could do that - useful!

I've also discovered that I can get the effect I need if instead of pasting the image in in word, I open the background image in PSP also, then paste the selection from the other image in as a new layer, instead of just normal/standard pasting (control +v).

Thanks,

Jeff
