So it is expected to see inconsistent performance. Since you rule out a new router the next step is to be sure the router firmware is current and use it with an Ethernet cable.
Hello CNET Community ![]()
so I moved to a new apartment where I am running a router with 2,4 GHZ frequency. The connection is stable on my phone and my other laptop but I my main Windows 10 laptop has some kind of issue. I recently did a reinstall of Windows 10.
Here is the issue: The signal strength is good, however from time to time (more often than not) I have incredibly high pings to my router. First I thought maybe it is interference, but it doesn't occur on any other device, plus I moved my laptop right next to the router and it still happens.
I reinstalled my wifi drivers (Intel Dual Band Wirless-N 7260, Driver Date 22.02.2015, Driver Version 17.15.05), which brought no change.
I played around with advanced settings (20 mhz only, Roaming Aggressiveness and Wirless Mode) which didn't help either.
On router side, changing the channel did not help, and sadly it does not support 5 GHz (don't tell me to buy a new router please, I know)
This is how it looks when I run a ping to the default gateway:

Slowly I do not know what else could be the issue.
I was hoping, that you folk out in the world wide web could help me with ideas or a solution!
