Unstable secondary windows

Wonder if anyone could help me with a small problem I have. Most of the time, when I open any kind of secondary window ( in IE as well as Windows ) the secondary window more or less immediately drops to the task bar. Once I start working in that window, it stays until I put it on the task bar. Sometimes I have to be very quick to tart work in the window before it switches itself to the tb. This is very frustrating! Also happens with WMP. Any ideas why this happens, and how I can stabilise the secondary windows ?
