It may be unsafe to be here if you're not wearing something that indicates you hate Trump.
In most circles, it was perfectly acceptable to bash Trump before the election. Now, you'd better stay in the shadows if you have any agreement with what he's doing. I'm of the thought that it was just those people who slinked into the polling places in enough numbers to get him elected. It wasn't popular, if not downright dangerous, to show support for the man.
I've been around long enough to see the difference in reaction expressed by the two political parties and their supporters when things aren't going their way. Both can be just as loud but there's one that more often turns to creating mayhem. You'd need to be blind to not see this.
Your school kids can come down here in complete safety as long as they or their teacher escorts avoid political badges or if those badges indicate support for the party that lost. While sporadic heckling is always a possibility, the likelihood of getting punched in the face is almost nil unless your badge supports Trump.
When they go down there they are concerned about being "allowed in"....
A busload of students and 1 or 2 or more have dual citizenship..THEY aren't allowed in because of where they were born?...Ruin the trip for all on the bus....
NOT FAIR!!! as TheRUMP would tweet.
U.S. President Donald Trump recently signed an executive order barring citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States. Two courts have already struck down the ban but a defiant Trump, arguing the measure is needed to fight terrorism, has vowed to take the matter to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, while the American border remains open, for now, to all foreign citizens visiting with proper documentation, Ottawa has begun monitoring the situation and recording instances where Canadians — particularly dual citizens — have been turned around.
March break is coming up, many head south, let's see how that plays out.
Seems meaningless. I could start monitoring my back yard to see if any elephants appear. I've never felt a need to do that but...ya' never know. But from reading this someone is wasting their time. Paranoia runs deep...
WHY would anyone be paranoid?
Unless you're POTUS?
From your link
Earlier the U.S. State Department said Canadians with dual citizenship from Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Somalia, Syria, Yemen and Libya would be denied entry for the next three months along with citizens from those countries.
Trump’s executive order also banned refugees from Syria indefinitely, pending a review of the application process.
So Canadians SHOULD be concerned...They want to go away with their "friends" and their "friends" can't come with them?
All that has to happen for things to change is for TheRUMP to be offended by the way Trudeau doesn't give him a hug when they meet this week...or someone burns his toast...
non-citizens from other countries have a "constitutional' right to come here, JP....that's a huge mistake that the ACLU, the liberal courts, et al are making. THEY HAVE NO RIGHTS UNTIL THEY GET HERE, so if they can be stopped from boarding a plane somewhere else and getting here, Trump can stop them cold. THAT'S LEGAL.
re:You act as if non-citizens from other countries have a "constitutional' right to come here, JP
"constitutional' right ?
NO...Where did you get that idea from? OK..I know what you pulled it out of.
I'll 'splain it to you Lucy
I thought I was acting as if...when I plan a trip a month in advance...I know that the rules won't be changed 2 days AFTER I make those plans....OR maybe even the day BEFORE I'm supposed to leave...or that all the people that are coming with me won't have any changes in their ability to come because of Government regulations...
THEY HAVE NO RIGHTS UNTIL THEY GET HERE,
So you just "show up" and then you find out what rights you have?
That's kinda stupid way to run something.
America is open for business...American tourist attractions selling tickets all over the world trying to get people to visit..
COME ON DOWN!!!!
OK, I'm here
Sorry JP Bill you're not allowed in
But you told me to COME ON DOWN!!!!
The judges that decided against Trump's EO are the ones who, ON THEIR OWN, decided that anyone who is not a US citizen has 'Constitutional rights' that were deprived of them with the EO........that wasn't ME pulling anything out of anywhere, JP......YOU defended the judges' decision and they don't have the authority to create law where it DOESN'T EXIST.
As far as they are concerned, America IS open for business from all fronts around the globe, even though the CONSTITUTION ONLY GIVES THAT AUTHORITY TO THE PRESIDENT AND HE CAN SAY "NO".
You just debated against Trump's EO, lost the debate (again), and gave him the win on this subject because you don't know our laws like you believe you do.
CREATED LAW on their own, rather than decide on EXISTING LAW, JP....huge difference.
Yes, there is a huge difference...
It's your "opinion" that the Judges "created Law".
Perhaps TheRUMP's lawyers didn't point to the correct "EXISTING LAW" that proved HIS argument.
the teachers would be battling a lawsuit already, not only for allowing this without my permission
You actually think the school "allowed" them to leave?
I can see you also filing a lawsuit claiming they had NO right to "detain" your child.
You want people to pay for police needed to control "protesters"....
How bout YOU paying to prevent YOUR child from leaving school to "protest".
Arm teachers and hold you kids hostage from 9am till 3:30 daily?
lolololo
responsibility to make sure they are in class, and if they aren't, it's reported that they didn't show up. Stop trying to preach crap you know nothing about here, JP. Once my child is dropped off at the school, the school pretty much takes over their care and are responsible for them. IF teachers actually encouraged the protest for so many from the same school to leave, THAT is also against the law because it's considered to be a 'field trip' that requires parental WRITTEN consent. Yep....lawsuits would happen and pretty darn quickly, if they aren't already happening and the media isn't reporting that.
Used to be considered a sensible principle. Lawyers of the parents of the kids got it put away. One reason I stopped teaching.
Well that statement is a LONG way from your original rant for allowing this without my permission
The kid misses a class the school calls and says your kid isn't in school
The kid misses school, the school calls and says you kid isn't in school
Pretend the school is a bank and the guard is a teacher
al·low give (someone) permission to do something.
re·port give a spoken or written account of something that one has observed, heard, done, or investigated.
.what DOES matter is that young kids who aren't allowed by LAW to go on ANY field trips
From YOUR link...perhaps YOU don't read your links...
Jesse Watters hit the streets recently to talk to some high school kids who skipped school to protest Donald Trump’s “travel ban” which isn’t really a travel ban at all.
NO mention of "field trips" in your link
IF you aren't familiar with the term "skipped school" let me know...
or even 'left school', have ANY of them been punished BY THE SCHOOL for truancy? Their identities are out there and available for that. It still doesn't excuse the fact that they were ALL in an 'unsafe political climate' and it IS the school's responsibility to make sure they aren't in unsafe environments during school hours.
RE: IF they 'skipped school' or even 'left school', have ANY of them been punished BY THE SCHOOL for truancy?
Ask Betsy DeVos...Secretary Of Education....It's HER responsibility....
Kind of an exciting trip, for kids. Nice little town, Windsor. Sort of a poster boy for CA - US relations, small CA in shadow of Big Business. Now it's in the international news.
We can blame ... just about everyone, there's more than enough hatred to go around.
In another but similar era, Walt Kelly's Pogo had it sussed.
