Just the Core Duo, 1GB RAM and GMA graphices. Mine came with just one application that I tossed out (Norton) and after installing Free AVG, Seamonkey and Open Office it's working just fine weeks later.
Yes it's possible you found some toxic combo but I can't see it from your list so I supplied mine.

Hi all. I unpacked my brand new Asus A8JS laptop (Core 2 Duo 2 GHz, 1GB memory, Windows Vista Home Premium, nVidia GeForce Go 7700) last weekend. I got most things up and running and am overall quite happy with the performance.
The last 2 days, I am getting an awful lot of unresponsive dialog boxes. For example, when you uninstall a program, you are presented with a choice ("Are you sure, yes/no?") but then I can't click any of those buttons. Waiting even 10 minutes doesn't help. It can happen in any application, at any moment. I have the impression that when I restart the PC and leave it alone for a considerable amount of time after startup, this problem is less frequent, but I do realise that sounds very odd. If on the other hand I start all kinds of apps (say, outlook, firefox, windows explorer, ...) while the laptop is still starting up (which is what I used to do till now), it usually ends up in a completely unresponsive mess.
Is it possible that I have messed up the OS already after 2/3 days of installing files, drivers, applications and games?
