Oddly encoded video files can crash Explorer. Most of the time I can fix that by uninstalling the codecs.
No, it's not a trojan, virus issue. But badly written code in Windows or the Codec.
In last week I had few viruses like, "backdoor.formador" and "w32.Imaut.aa" in my machine, I got rid of them using some info on the net. after that I had installed ACE Mega codec pack on my machine y'day. When I tried playing a vedio file, the explorer would crash and along with it the symentac realtime protection would also get close.
I got rid of the explorer crashing by unstalling ACE mega pack. However, I am suspicious of the symantec anti virus. I went to symentac site and read about a tool called checktrust. when I run it on symantec application "VPC32.exe" it shows message as unknown publisher and same with other symantec executable files. Is my symantec antivirus infected? if yes, then how do i get it clean.
P.S: my symantec antivirus is updated to date.
