Question

Unrecognised icon appearing in tray

Oct 26, 2014 7:43AM PDT

Hi all. I have an icon that appears occasionally in my tray when I'm booting up. If I put my cursor on it, it disappears. I did a screengrab and having Googled I cannot find a single programme that it relates to. Can anyone help me identify it?

I'm running latest Firefox, Windows XP on a Dell laptop and AVG virus / firewall software plus CCleaner. Have done scans, sweeps and whatever else and it still appears.

My ports are stealthed (and checked via grc).

Have uploaded the icon to Flickr - not the best resolution but the icon of course is tiny!

Thanks - any ideas welcome.

Don't put your cursor on it.
In stead, go in to Task Manager and stop all processes (don't stop Explorer!) until it disappears. Then you know what process it's coming from. Then see what to do about it.

That link hung here with "fetching more photos."

Nice try but why not create a few logs with HIJACKTHIS as well as AUTORUNS. It's your computer so you would know or learn about every entry in those logs.

Sorry folks. False alarm. Found it. Sigh. It's my pen pad that I'd forgotten about. Tried to delete my original post so as not to have it cluttering up the airwaves - just letting you know all is well! *blush*
