"After some time I took the HD out and formatted it in my desktop, and then installed windows over again."...
Formatting a drive is a well known way to trip up the Windows installer and XP. Look at http://www.blackviper.com/Articles/OS/InstallXPHome/installxphome1.htm and notice that we don't format the drive in such a manner. We do however use the XP installer to partition and let the installer format it.
Since I consider this an invalid install, I don't think it should ever work proper.
Hope this helps.
I have a problem with my Compaq Presario 1525EA, Bios Ver 0f04, Windows XP home. After travel I started up the pc and the laptop got an blue screen and restarted. With a camera I did film it and it had the unmountable_boot_volume error. I followed the instruction I found on the net and did the chkdsk /r and fixboot, it didn?t restart any more, but stoped at the blue screen. After some time I took the HD out and formatted it in my desktop, and then installed windows over again. I was then able to start the computer but each time starting it takes very long time, like if you turn of the pc by pulling out the power, the HD LED is also flashing very fast. Since the pc was so slow, but the blue screen was gone, I decided to try to use the rescue disks, when they where loaded I got the blue screen again. Unmountable_boot_volume. Stop 0x000000ED (0x80AD6030, 0xC0000185, 0x00000000, 0x00000000). I have been in touch with Compaq help desk, but they are only giving the normal information about this problem, but that doesn?t help me. Hope someone can help
