Unlocking the Sony Ericsson T637

by underparone / April 13, 2006 2:36 PM PDT

Does anyone have the secret to unlocking a Sony Ericsson T637 that started its life as an AT&T phone? I want to put my Cingular sim in it.

I too am looking for the way to do this. I have called AT&T/Cingular, and they said they would get back to me in 5 business days and did not.

Hi guys once you have an unlock code you have to press < * * < as if you are making a call. < is the left areo button on your jog dial or aeropad. Once you press < * * < this will promot you for a network code, you then input your code. You can get your code from cingular at&t or you can try sites like or

hope that helps!

Older phones can take longer for ATT to unlock
by Pepe7 / January 27, 2009 11:02 PM PST

FWIW, sometimes older handsets (like this one) can take longer for ATT to provide the unlock code. I've rarely had one take longer than 5 business days however. I'd wait a couple more days before you call CS.
Also, check your email 'junk' folder. A valid email message from ATT with subsidy unlock code may have inadvertently been placed in that folder. YMMV.

p.s. are you a current customer with no unpaid bills(?) That helps in order to get them to unlock a handset.

From my experience as a former CS rep for the current At&t, they might not be able to provide an unlock code for the phone since the codes might not be available to them. Technically, the original AT&T (bought by Cingular) is not the same company as it is named today. When I was still in CS, the unlock codes for the old AT&T were not available under any circumstance. As others have suggested, the OP would be better off trying to find an unlocking service himself.
