Unlocked phones and Web access

by Seimond / April 20, 2007 7:46 AM PDT

I just purchased a Samsung SGH-U600 (unlocked) I love this phone! But I can't access the Web. I contacted my carrier (Cingular) and my browser settings are right but no dice. What are my options for configuring the phone so I can access stuff like ringtones and games, etc.

And take the Cingular documentation with you.

Their choice: fix it for you or let you return it.

I found another configuration online with a different IP address. Back on the road! Thanks for your help!

Partial Success

I have been able to get to the Cingular NediaNet page and access the Web for things like my Gmail account. I still, however, cannot download games, ringtones, etc. Still working on a solution to that. Here are the settings I ended up using (and still currently using): http://www.wirelessgalaxy.com/mobilephones/cingular_wap_and_mms_settings.asp

This may also help: http://www.cingular.com/support/tutorials.do?tutorialPage=page2&universe=cingular&deviceId=8940&tutorialsCategory=MEdia+Net

* As you'll undoubtedly see, the original directions say the IP address is 66.209.11.61 -- and I also confirmed that configuration with a Cingular rep -- but I couldn't connect. I saw the IP addres 66.209.11.32 somewhere else, but of course, I now can't find the site -- but it does work.

Thanks for the information. It helped. I just needed to get the right IP address and that's all it took. I really do appreciate it. I'm still getting used to the sensitive buttons on this phone but otherwise like it.

How would he return the phone to Cingular when he didn't buy it from them?

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
