One of those LG models I cited might work for you. Otherwise, you probably won't find anything terribly cheap that fits the bill w/ ATT.
Does anybody know of a website that lists which (unlocked) mobes will work on which carriers?
More specifically, I'm on ATT (a GSM network) and I don't like any of the current phones they offer.
I want a wide qwerty keyboard with a wide screen like HTC Tilt, Nokia E90, etc. for sms texting & IM'ing. I've got a Blackberry now, but the keys & screen are too small for me in my old age ... failing eyesight and diminishing dexterity dontcha know.
The two mobes I mentioned above are simply targets for form factor, they are both too expensive right now. I've been checking eBay for phones, but it appears I can't trust the descriptions there ... the LG Voyager is a Verizon model, which I understand is CDMA not GSM, hence incompatible with ATT, but some sellers have marked it as GSM and compatible with ATT in their auctions.
I just was hoping somebody has already done the work of compiling specs on different handsets and testing them to see if they will actually -- not theoretically, but actually -- work on any given carrier's network.
I've read a lot of stuff about unlocked phones that indicates that even if it's the right type (GSM versus CDMA) and the right frequencies, it still might not work on a carrier that it wasn't built for even though it's "unlocked". I don't want to experiment ... don't have enought money to randomly buy an expensive handset that might not work.
