Unknown Program show by TechTracker

Nov 23, 2009 8:20PM PST

TT is telling me that I need to update a program that isn't on my computer, never has been and is unknown to me.
It's WinQcad. I have no interest in CAD but do have a 3D Connexion device which can be used in CAD programs though I only use for navigating Google Earth. Could there be some connection to this false report?

TechTracker works by detecting program 'signatures,' which can include unique IDs, MD5 hashes, etc. Although it is rare for two programs to have the same identifiers, it is not impossible. Thus, you may have one program installed, which TechTracker does not recognize, but it matches the signature of a program TechTracker does, though you've never installed.

It is also possible that you, another users, or even another program, once installed the program in question, and that it was not completely uninstalled. Thus, TechTracker would still detect it and recommend updating it, even though you do not recognize it.

John
