Unknown hard error.....help

Sep 19, 2005 7:15AM PDT

Problem Description:

STOP:C0000221 UNKNOWN HARD ERROR\SYSTEMROOT\SYSTEM32\NTDLL.DLL

I GET A BLUE SCREEN AND THIS MESSAGE WHEN I POWER ON. NOTHING WORKS....Even trying to load from the last configuration or in safe mode. I just bought this laptop and i am furious that i am going to have to pay someone to do this for me. Why did this happen....its brand new! Please help.

Could this have happened from Kodak Easyshare software? According to Dell it is a software problem not hardware!

Anybody know any alternatives to using Kodak Easyshare software. How can i get my digital pics off of my Kodak camera without using Easyshare?

alternative to kodak easyshare software

you can probably just connect the camera to the computer and go through ''my computer'' or windows explorer to access the photos. that's how I do it with my kodak easyshare v530 -- I never install the manufacturer's photo software. I don't trust it!

Kodak's non-easyshare solution
Jan 19, 2006 12:55PM PST

It's really simple. If you'd like to avoid having to use that bulky Easyshare program, Kodak includes connectivity software in it's installation that may act as a stand alone (i.e. you can see and manipulate your pictures in Explorer)

To see Kodak's help file on this, paste this address in your Address bar in Internet Explorer -

C:\Program Files\Kodak\Kodak EasyShare software\ReadMeCamera.htm

Or, if you've intalled it on a different hard drive or location

[Insert Your Drive Here]:\Program Files\Kodak\Kodak EasyShare software\ReadMeCamera.htm

- Good Luck!!!

I prefer Comcast's alternative
Jan 20, 2006 12:38PM PST

I found through Comcast's website a free download called PhotoShow Deluxe 4. it takes a few minutes to download but I can do so much more with that software (editing and slideshows/screensavers). now I can simply pop my card into the computer and it automatically detects and asks if i would like to upload everything or select certain photos. much happier with this program than kodak's. love my camera though!

please elaborate
Sep 27, 2005 8:41AM PDT

Please tell your system information:
System model name
Processor
Amt. of memory
Operating system
Hard Drive size

What hardware, software changes/installations did you make before it started malfunctioning?

Try starting in Safe Mode (hit F8 key a few times during startup black screen).

XP software

If you are running XP it will have image viewer software as well as drivers for the camera most likely..(uninstall Kodac in safe mode). Sounds like a driver issue but make and model of unit is also helpful..
