Unknown disk Partion

by Troy2322 / June 24, 2004 10:48 AM PDT

I was looking on Disk Manager in Computer Management and I noticed that I have two partitions. One is my C Drive but the other is a partition with no volume name, a FAT file system, a status of Healthy(EISA Configuration), a capacity of 31 MB, 26 of which are free. I have no idea how this got here and want to know why it is here. The unknown drive is apart of the primary partition, but the C Drive is the System Partition. Disk Manager wont let me do anything with the partition. When I right click on that partition the only thing that is listed is "Help". I am using a Dell Inspiron 600m notebook, Windows XP Pro, 40 GB Hard Drive. Does anyone have any ideas on why its there?

I have an Acer notebook with a similar hidden partition- it's obviously created as part of the XP setup procedure. Common sense would dictate that it is best left alone unless you want to have to re-install.
