If you take a look around you find the better sites offer encoding for each device proper. It would be a shame to fall back to the LCD (lowest common denominator) of MPEG-1 since that could be used all over but at the expense of what may be larger files.

Hi,
I want to start publishing videos to website and am looking for the best publishing format.
Is there some ?universal format? which covers all options. (a bit like the MP3 for audio files)
I need my video to be able to:
- Play on the site (At this stage, I go for the embedded WMP)
- Accessed via video podcast on itunes
- Be played by quick time
- Be played by WMP
- Be played on an MP4 player
- Be played on video ipod
- Be the smallest possible in size
Is there a format which covers all these options?
What would you recommend?
With all these possible recording and conversion formats, I am a bit lost
Thanks a lot!
