General discussion

under 700, basic function notebook PC

Jul 17, 2006 1:12AM PDT

I have been looking at the CNET reviews but I don't know what is good and what isn't. I need a notebook with wireless internet, a DVD player and a word processor, preferably with 15.4'' display. My main needs are e-mail, the net, chessmaster, and watching movies while traveling.

I would love it if someone could recommend the best bang for the buck.

512M, DVDRW with lightscribe, and more. Try your local stores.

Compaq V2000 Line

They are 14.1", but they are very nice. R. Proffit's neightboor has two and he love this model.

They have a powerful Turion single-core processor and good components inside.

You can have that CNET service choose computers appropriate your needs. I tried it and find its recommendations reasonable and fair-"minded," although I ended up getting something much more powerful and expensive than what it recommended me to get.

Get what you pay for? Or are these genuine savings?

It better be cheap.

Since a new Compaq with everything and a warranty is 550, I compare the used one item for item and want 1/2 off since I have no warranty.
