I unfortunately installed the trial version of 2007 professional. I decided I would rather have 2003 and bought it off of Amazon. I could not get it to uninstall so I installed 2003. Now I am unable to uninstall either program using Add/Remove Programs. I want to keep the Office 2003 Professional but remove the Office 2007 trial. Can anyone help? Thanks! Linda

The link I noted was how to manually remove it. Find a friend and be sure to supply that link so they don't have to look for it.

Hello,
I had the same problem and......I fixed it.
Download the program Revo Uninstaller, this will take care of the problem.
Click on one of the Office programs,(I did Access) and click uninstall.
After about 20-30 minutes the whole Office 2007 is gone.
Restart and that's it.
During the uninstall you can NOT use the computer for anything!!!!
Greetings and good luck

You said you clicked on 'Access' . Where did you do that in c:\programs ?? or somewhere else ?
Access is one of the programs in the Office suite (like Word and Excel). And I'm sure he clicked that program (but you can use another one, of course) in the Installer Cleanup program he mentioned.

This fix is courtesy of the guys from HP in Bangalore and worked a treat from my notebook running Vista. I was able to easily uninstall MS Office 2007 Trial version and reinstall MS Office 2003.
1. Backup any critical files.
2. Do a System Restore. (in my case I'd just purchased a new Notebook
so my restore was to the original factory settings.)
3. In Control Panel open 'User Accounts'
4. Select 'Turn User Account Control on or off'
5. Uncheck the 'user account control'
6. Click OK
7. Now all the MS Office 2007 programs can be uninstalled in
Control Panel
Microsoft advises to have UAC on for safety reasons, and that's the default setting. It's one of the cornerstones of Vista safety.
It's ironic if you need to uncheck it to be able to uninstall the trial of their latest (Vista compatible) Office suite.

I agree with you Kees. I guess you can always re-enable the User Settings after the uninstall.
It's interesting to note that the guy at Microsoft Help wasn't able to help me to uninstall - just told me that the original operating system must have been installed incorrectly.
Good job HP knew what to do.
recommend having UAC off. I wouldn't hurry to switch it on again.

I tried the recommended fix(By HP)(New HP laptop running Vista)
and get this message
"The language of this installation is not supported by your system"
which is what I got when I tried a normal uninstall.
Why would HP put garbage like this on a computer?
I spent three days in HP chats to no avail.
The Microsoft help site offer instructions that are more confusing then helpful.
I do not understand what you mean.
Having a TERRIBLE time uninstalling Office 2007 trial and WANT IT OUT!!!!!
Thanks for any help.

That's one of the more discussed Vista features. It's easy to turn off.
You might want to study http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc709691.aspx or find a more easy guide to turning it off by searching google for DISABLE UAC yoyrself.

I want to uninstall Office 2007 because it has locked me out of Office 2003. When I go to Add/Remove, I am unable to remove application. PLEASE ASSIST THANKS

Following threads I got to Microsoft's web page, they will do it for you. I run XP and can't say that it will work for Vista, but here is the link I used. They give you a choisce of "Fit It For Me" which is what I used and OMG it's finally off my computer!!!

I hope this help others, who like me have had a hell of a time removing this nightmare. Never again will I do a FREE Trial by Microsoft.
I tried doing it manually, not trusting Microsoft an inch, and it just kept dying, so I gave in and let them "Fix it For me" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971179/#FixedAlways
It worked like a treat and I am finally rid of this dreadful P.O.S.
It worked! And it doesn't appear to have caused any problems with Office 2003.
Thanks for the tip!

I tried that and it didn't remove all of it so a computer professional friend of mine told me about this software that is FREE and RATED 5 STARS by CNet to remove ANY software and it's hidden files once and for all. Most programs leave hidden files behind, this finds them.
Check out http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html
It works great.
