Question

Unable to set screen resolution to 1920*1080

Jul 16, 2013 4:12AM PDT

i have lenovo z580 laptop with windows8. Initially when i purchased it, i remember that it had resolution of 1920*1080 working. But since a week i notice that the screen resolution has down graded to 1366*768 and am unable to set it back to 1920*1080, as the screen resolution slider does not show up that option at all. Pls help me in fixing this.

Thanks

"The Lenovo IdeaPad Z580 uses a glossy 15.6-inch Samsung SEC4252 1366x768 display"
Lenovo.com and other review sites.

While I can play 1080 content this model does not have a 1080 line display so I bet a new user could be confused about 1080 playback verses the display resolution. Again, the native resolution is best at 1366x768.

As we can't change the LCD in this model, it's best you return it if you demand a 1080 display.

May be i have mistaken but my actual problem is when i connect my laptop to my 50 inch LED tv the screen does not get plotted completely, i mean that 3 inches on either sides(left and right) of the TV has a blank display. At the same time even the laptop LCD screen gets shrinked similarly. But i am sure earlier it wasn't like this. Could you please help me in cracking this issue.

Thanks

Now that's a different problem isn't it?

Now we discuss how Windows has two basic display modes when we connect such to a laptop.

1. Mirror mode. We don't want to use this as our main display is not 1080.
2. Extend our display mode. Let's use that. Here's an article for that.

This may not match your laptop. Sorry but I don't see a manual for yours but I do this a lot and muddle through.
