First, start by installing the most recent version of Java using the insructions below:
Click on the link to Sun's Java below, then click on the ''Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u1'' download button. Follow the prompts, accept the license agreement, then download the full ''Windows Offline Installation'' file to your desktop,(about 15 MB), scan it with your antivirus (just to be sure it's clean). Once that's done, if you've already got a Sun Java version on the computer, (It appears like you may not though) open the Control Panel, double click on the ''Add/Remove Programs'' section, then uninstall all previous versions of the J2SE Java listed there. Once that's done, then install Java JRE 6u1 from the downloaded installer.

Hope this helps.

I have had this laptop for about two months now and use it frequently with no problems. One day I log on to the net and can no longer see any animations, advertisements, buttons, the 'click to add thread' button for this forum was blank w/ a red X. I have not changed any security settings knowingly, only restored the default security settings just in case i did accidently changed something. I have endlessly tried to install/re-install the flash/ActiveX players. I either get an error opening the file for writing C:\Windows\system32\macromed\flash\flash9c.ocx, or stop and retry the download, which said it is complete, but still does not work. I also tried a link to install the flash from another recent post. I am not really sure that is the problem. Any ideas? I am getting desperate. Thanks, Danielle
