by xp101 / December 31, 2004 10:40 AM PST

Hi

I am unable to delete several icons from my desk top using <shift><del> key. If I click the icon, it will direct to its web site.

please advise. Thanks.

unable to find/delete unwanted link from browser

In reply to: A fairly new spyware.

thank you for your reply.

I download spybot and scan my computer. After scanning, the "unwanted" icons have been removed from desktop. But the link still appear in the Browser -- Favorites.

Using "Favorites -> Organize Favoites", those "unwanted links" do not appear, and using "Search" is also unable to find them in the system. How to delete them?

anyone assistance is much appreciated.

Thanks.

RE: Still unable to delete the link/folder from browser

Hi Bob,

I did what you advised. In addition, I also purchased a copy "spyware killer" from local computer store in Singapore. I'm still unable to delete the unwanted the link from IE Favorite using Organize Favorites.

The links in IE Favorites are such as, "Casino Online" that I have no clues how my nephew get into it and they are so stubbon to get rid of it.

Any advice?

BTW, how to block specific web site? I used IE Tools/Privacy/sites to block certain websites, but it does not seem taking the effect.

Any suggestion?

Thanks.

I was having this problem for quite a whild till I decided to try this:

Switch off computer > reboot while holding down F8 [XP] > from the menu Boot into 'safe mode'
Open START > access 'My computer' > search for the offending items > right click and delete.
Hope this helps
