one option is to boot the XP recovery console and rebuild the MBR. this should be an option at startup. hit the right F key at the sliding bar to pick a boot option. you can also boot from an XP full install CD. you can also try some 3rd party tools designed for recovering bad boot and partition sectors. one i have heard good things about but never used is dfsee.
I accidentally deleted both the c: & d: disk partitions when I wanted to delete only c:
Recovered the partitions using a third-party utility, but havent been able to recover the boot sector. I formatted & re-installed XP on c: but havent touched d:.
The drive shows up as d: under win explorer but no data (asks for formatting it).
Appreciate any help to recover my data on d:
