Unable to receive messages from 1 contact

Hi I am having some issues with Windows Live Messenger. I am unable to receive messages from one of my contacts. They can see what I type to them but I am unable to see their response. I have not blocked them at any stage.

The other thing is with the same contact from a Yahoo Messenger the same issue is there. They can see what I type but I am unable to see their reply. Again I have never blocked the contact.

I am able to receive emails on both accounts from this contact just not the instant messengers

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Can't say I've seen that issue before. Try uninstalling and re-installing both IM programs. Also, since it is user specific, it makes me think there could be a setting that is off somewhere. Re-installing will revert you back to the default settings and hopefully the issue will be solved.

Since it affects two different clients on two different services, it could be a firewall issue, with inbound traffic being blocked based on port, protocol, client, etc. Check through your firewall logs and settings, ensuring you whitelist the two IM clients.
