Unable to operate PhotofunStudio 1.48 with Windoows 7

Dec 20, 2009 9:45PM PST

Have recently updated computer from Vista to Windows 7 but now unable to operate PhotofunStudio 1.4 the operating software for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 digital DSLR camera, which workrd perfectly under both Vista and XP. Both Microsoft and Panasonic have confirmed that no update has been issued to work with Windoes7. As this camera is perhaps the best that Panasonic have ever made, used daily for yacht surveying, with over 200,000 photos to date, I am loathed to change it for the sake of a good new driver. I have used Picasa 3 as a replacemen, but it does not give me the versatility I used to get from PhotofunStudio. I know there are many others experiencing the same problem. Any ideas

Not compatible.

If both Microsoft and Panasonic state there are no updates available for Windows 7, it looks like the software is not compatible with Windows 7.

Which Windows 7 version did you upgrade to? If you have either the Professional or Ultimate edition, then you could try 7's XP Compatibility Mode;
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/features/windows-xp-mode.aspx

Also available with those Windows 7 versions is Virtual PC where you could install XP as a virtual OS, and run the software from there;

Other than that, I fear you are looking at replacing the software.

Photo Fun Studio 3.0 HD edition and my Acer Aspire One
Jan 2, 2010 12:15PM PST

Having just read this post it seems the closest to my problem.

I have an Acer Aspire One running Windows XP with no disc drive so I copied the Photo Fun Studio 3.0 HD edition (came with my Lumix TZ7) to a flashdrive and dumped it over. It installed fine with Media Impression and Panorama Maker working fine BUT the Photo Fun Studio launched with an error window saying "use a display environment of 1024*768, 16 bits or more". Can someone please explain this to me. When I look at Display Properties it's using 1024 by 600 pixels (max) and 32 bit colour quality. Does this mean I am short 168 pixels? Any idea's of is this software deadweight to me?

That's an unusual resolution.

It doesn't seem to be standard, neither widescreen or normal screen.

If you cannot change the resolution on this system to at least 1024 x 768 then I am not sure what your options are. It seems this software will not work on lower resolutions.

Fixed but not quite

Thanks Max.. after further learning (I live mainly on a Mac) I realised the Display Properties/Settings is set to;

1. Plug and Play Monitor on Mobile Intel 945 Express Chip Family which is limited to 1024 by 600 and if I switch to the;

2. (Default monitor) on Mobile Intel 945 Express Chip Family which allows up to 2048 by 1536...

Problem now is for some reason I can't get it to use that monitor as the primary one. I assume it's just something I'm doing wrong but every time I set it, it resets itself back. Thanks for your feedback.
